An international and interactive workshop for Cancer Society staff:

Nutrition, Physical Activity and Cancer Prevention

This workshop is interactive.  We expect participants to actively share their experience and engage in discussions during the workshop. This is an excellent opportunity to meet new colleagues/friends/proffesionals working in the field of cancer prevention with special emphasis on diet and physical activity. Come and get inspired by learning from others working in the same field as you - and make new and important contacts that will be valuable for your future work in the field of cancer prevention through diet and physical activity.

Morning workshop

Presentation of selected and innovative cancer prevention programs/projects.  Stories describing best practice. Outcome – develop a list of most successful strategic actions!

Presentation and discussion of selected participants cancer prevention strategies (from submittet policy paper examples). What are the challenges associated with establishing internal policies for healthy eating and physical activity?

Discussion: Nutrition and physical activity – pros and cons of combining into one campaign for cancer prevention.

Afternoon workshop

Obesity prevention
   Scientific update
   How do Cancer Agencies engage and benefit from the present focus on obesity?
   Is there a specific role for Cancer Societies?

Public/private Partnerships and coalition building - the opportunities and the risks.

Options for setting up an international forum for ongoing discussion and possible collaboration
